I wanted to do something different. And I had a feeling that, with Twitter and Facebook bringing people together that have no business communicating with one another, like celebrities and "commoners", there had to be a way to ask a celebrity to donate something without being intrusive. It shouldn't cost said celebrity anything - no more than 5 minutes of their time max. But what? What could I get signed, for example, that would be unique to LIVESTRONG, not inconvenience anyone... hmmm... *looks down at wrist* What about an autographed LIVESTRONG wristband? Had anyone done it yet? Nope.
So, with my wristbands from my Grassroots project, a couple of sharpies, self-addressed & stamped return envelopes and some nerve, I was able to get pro cyclists and other notables to autograph LIVESTRONG wristbands (and other items, if they chose to send them back in the same package) and I auctioned them off.
